Area of a trapezoid

I learned this information in class, and by working on accelerated math.
Today you are going to learn how to find the formula of a trapezoid.
The formula of a trapezoid is:

Height (base 1+ base 2)/2

So, the height is 12cm and base 1 is 38cm and base 2 is 15cm
So, then you have to put those numbers into the formula.
Height(base1+base2)/2
=12cm (38cm+15cm)/2
=12cm (53cm)/2
= 318 cm square

If you need to find the area of 2 trapezoid Together you need to:

Find the area of these 2 trapezoids
2trapeziod.JPGSo, as you see that there is two trapezoids in this picture.
To figure out the area of both of the trapezoids, you have to use the trapezoid formula.
You put trapezoid 1 into the formula and then the 2nd trapezoid into the formula also. Then when you get the answer, from both trapezoids you add them together to find the total area.

Trapezoid 1

Height(base 1 + base 2) /2
=14cm(14cm+ 29cm)/2
=14cm(43cm)/2
= 301cm square

Trapezoid 2

Height(base 1+ base 2)/2
=18cm(29cm + 4cm)
= 18cm(33cm)/2
=297cm square

So,then you add both of those answers (301 + 297)
301+297= 598 cm square
So, the area of both of those trapezoids in 598 cm sqaure.
